Having recently retired and moved into this charming property our clients had just one problem - they needed more space to entertain the family and grandchildren when they come to visit. The obvious solution was to build a conservatory not only to provide the extra room but also to allow them to enjoy the tranquil countryside outside, whatever the weather.

There were certain considerations that needed to be addressed before we could start. This property is in a conservation area within the grounds of a castle and the original architect had incorporated steeply angled roof pitches into his design. The local planning department were keen for the new conservatory to be in keeping with the original look of the property.

With this in mind we designed the conservatory to reflect the architectural features that make this house so special. So the overall structure complements the gable and roof pitch of the house. The hipped conservatory roof shape is the same style as the existing dormer windows and is peaked to mirror the detail of the main elevation. Extra height fanlights ensure the roofline follows that of the house.

For easy access the doors were positioned at the side of the conservatory leading out to the patio area. They have full glazed panels on both sides to maximise the view onto the garden. Matching stone and white external frames further harmonise the conservatory with the building. Our clients chosen internal natural wood finishes and an amtico floor with a striking motif.

Our clients are delighted with the result and feel it suits their property perfectly. They now have the extra space to entertain comfortably and a conservatory that looks as if it has always been here.
