The old courtyard was unused, and the byre beside it neglected. But it was always a sunny spot, and the owners felt that it was a pity somehow not to use it.

They had heard that Mozolowski and Murray had a reputation for creating individual designs, and this space, between the extension and the old stone building, called for nothing less than an individual approach. First, to maximise the light, we designed a pitched glass roof and rounded front, giving space and character. Then the stroke of genius. Two stone archways, breaking through the byre wall and out through the far side, giving a long framed vista through the glass doors to the walled garden beyond.

From bridge parties to barbecues (even at Hogmanay) this stunning conservatory has transformed an unused corner into the busiest place in the house.
