Light inspires painters and, when this respected artist was looking for a natural light and a tranquil studio in which to work on his brightly coloured paintings, he wondered about a conservatory.

It was the architecture that inspired us. His award-winning house was by an architect whose passion was environmentally-conscious design. An end gable soared to a steep point, echoing a beautiful diamond shaped window below. Our challenge was to blend in a conservatory with the same materials, environmental features and design as the house.

Timber posts were used to raise the conservatory to the internal floor level, and the solid side wall constructed in insulated timber lining to suit. Around and overhead, fill glazed screens were used to maximise the light, pitched to match the distinctive gable above. Everyone agrees the overall effect is a masterpiece.
